Rise Of The Phul

By the end of the 2nd age, Nymrr Omar had wrought desiccation, fire and chaos on the lands of Dramoor, reducing most of the living land to drought, desert, volcanos and ash. Many species became extinct while the dominate species were forced to adapt and change in their bid for survival.

One species thrived over all the others. The Phul. Once an elusive and rare collection of desert nomads and volcano dwellers, they found a new supremecy in the world left by Nymrr Omar. The Phul species gained a decisive power during this time, the power of pyrokinesis.

Able to wield fire with ease, the Phul were able to quickly enslave and dominate the remaining peoples of Dramoor. The Phul used this expansive slave labour to build a massive city of obsidian and lava they named Aull. Other than small caravan settlements and temporary route camps, Aull is the only city known to exist during this long and hellish age. Aull occupies the center of a vast, merciless and ever changing world-desert known as Bliss.

Aull has a distinct feature; it has almost no stairs. Since the Phul are snake-like from the waste down, they do no require stairs to move between levels. Most level to level travel is done via poles and steep ramps. Given the size of Phul, floor are also tall, far above the natural height of humans, elves, dwarves and gnomes. Slaves often live their entire lives on the floors they work on, unable to leave without assistance. The Phul as a species also require very little sleep compared to other species making their utter dominance difficult to overcome.

The political landscape of Aull is arranged around a seemingly immortal matriarch referred to as Aull Mother. She resembles a great fire wyrm convered in lava and black scales. Other than her close brood of sterile females, she remains hidden and unapproachable, ruling by the will of her powerful mind control powers.

The Aull Mother is able to effortlessly and freely communicate with all other Phul from any distance. She is able to see through their eyes and speak with them but cannot directly control their actions. Her rule is absolute and without challenge. Her main role is to birth the fertile and unintelligent warrior males, the intelligent yet infertile controllers and the infertile female overseers. In addition to creating progeny, the Aull Mother also guards an unknown and powerful artifact that is the source of her and the Phul powers. It is said there are portals to other dimensions and worlds deep in her lair, immense portals to sources of tremendous magic.
